As the Kosher Food and Wine Experience slips in to the culinary memories of Foodies across the East Coast, I have returned home, invigorated by the foods I tasted, wines I discovered, and food friends I had the chance to spend the day with. With each of the KFWE 2013 reviews and wrap-ups go live, I discover more flavors of the day that I was not fortunate enough to taste. My recommendation for next year – book early and don't hesitate about attending this event.

  • 2013 Kosher Food and Wine Experience (KFWE) lived up to all its billing

For years I have always sported a purple colored beaming grin when I finish my tasting at the IFWF (International Food and Wine Festival) in LA, which hid my grumbling stomach’s discontent. Like I have documented for years, I never get to eat at the events, even as the entire food court mocks me, attempting to pull me into their warm, delicious, and very present embrace, with their wafting and intoxicating aromas.

The perfect foodie dream: All your favorite wines and food, with many new exciting additions each year, are displayed and generously offered in the magnificent Pier 60, which accommodates over a thousand guests each year. This year KFWE 2013 had a good problem: they sold out really fast, and several of my friends’ requests for putting in a good word for them so they could get tickets didn’t help. • Kosher Food and Wine Experience in NYC

I was privileged to attend this year's Kosher Food and Wine Experience on February 22 at Chelsea Piers in New York. Dozens of kosher restaurants and vineyards were represented. I was struck by the slogan on the T-shirts for Pomegranate, a kosher supermarket in Flatbush: "Absolutely, without a doubt, the No. 1 Deli in the world." Is the best Jewish deli now part of a grocery store? If so, this would actually be a return to the deli's roots as a take-out gourmet store. And truly, the sausages and honey mustard corned beef were to die for, along with Shabbos specialties like cholen, kishke, and chopped liver.
